Battle blade maker Cold Steel adds Battle Shades eyewear to the mix
That "shades" rhymes with "blades" makes for a perfect fit at tactical knife manufacturer Cold Steel, which has just introduced a new line of eyewear called Battle Shades.
"It’s a natural progression," states the company’s strategic account sales manager Drew Harding. "Mr. Thompson has always been a proponent of safety like developing the Tri Ad locking mechanism for folding knives and when you’re in his workout room, we have to wear eye protection all the time otherwise you can’t go in there. And when he goes on safaris in Africa he’s always wearing sunglasses."
"We’re not out to compete with Wiley X or Oakley," Harding notes Wiley X being a top tactical/sports eyewear manufacturer, Oakley a prominent sunglass/sports player. Rather, Battle Blades is another product category for Cold Steel: High

"Cold Steel is known for the quality of its weapons and knives, and we want to

Here Harding points to temple tips shaped like tanto knife blade tips, and the inside of the temple tips and the nosepads featuring the checkering grip pattern of the company’s Tai Pan fixed blade knife.
"The main thing is the shield," Harding says, meaning the fully removable protective side shields which have been added to select Battle Shades models and provide additional protection from the distraction and potential injury of glare, wind shear and airborne

"They’re really quite innovative esthetically: Take them off and they’re a normal pair of ballistic eyewear. They come with a soft microfiber pouch and a durable carry case featuring a discreet internal pocket and integrated snap fit loops allowing carry on a belt, pack, vest or webbing.
"We’ve already found that the martial arts and stunt communities are wearing them," says Cold Steel

"Stunt guys seem to love them because they’re designed to stay in place with the non strip grip
